When a belt is damaged or torn longitudinally, moisture, stains, chemicals, and other impurities can easily enter the damaged area if not repaired in time. These external substances come into direct contact with the structure of the belt, further exacerbating wear, which can have a serious impact on the life of the belt. So usually we use patch strips to patch the belt.

In the process of using patch strips, we need to pay attention to the following two points:

1. Avoid belt blistering

Blistering is a common problem in the repair process and may affect the bond strength and repair effectiveness of the repair layer. The main reasons include:

Uneven surface sanding: If the damaged surface is unevenly sanded, it may cause air entrapment on the adhesive surface during repair, resulting in air bubbles. When sanding, ensure that the surface is smooth and flat, thoroughly remove oil, dust and other impurities, and provide a good adhesion surface for the repair strip.

Uneven gluing: When applying the glue, if the coating is uneven, the thin part of the glue will dry quickly, and the thick part will dry slowly, and the incomplete volatile solvent may lead to virtual sticking. Make sure that the glue is applied evenly and appropriately, and avoid that the rubber is too thick in some parts and too thin in others. Ideally, the compound should be evenly coated and maintained at the appropriate thickness, ensuring that the patch is in sufficient contact with the glue to avoid air bubbles.

2. Avoid the problem of falling off after bonding

Peeling off of the adhesive layer after repair is another common problem. The reasons for this are usually related to gluing and curing time:

Insufficient glue to slightly adhesive after gluing: If you do not wait for the glue to dry until it is slightly sticky after gluing, the adhesive surface of the repair strip and the conveyor belt may not fully bond, which will affect the bond strength. Make sure that the glue surface is slightly sticky before attaching the patch strip, which will help strengthen the adhesion and avoid falling off.

Insufficient curing time: If the repair strip is not given sufficient curing time after bonding, the solvent in the glue may not fully evaporate, resulting in a weak bond. Therefore, after the repair is completed, it is important to ensure that there is enough time to rest and cure to ensure that the bond strength is as intended.

Hanpeng patch strips come with a semi-vulcanized layer, which gives them a unique advantage. The semi-vulcanized layer reacts chemically with cold-bonded adhesive to securely bond the patch strip and belt together. Compared to traditional physical bonding methods, chemical reactions can provide stronger adhesion, significantly improving the durability and durability of repairs. The use of Hanpeng repair strips can effectively reduce the risk of falling off and improve the reliability and work efficiency of the repaired conveyor belt.
