During long-term use, conveyor belts often face various types of cracks and damages, typically caused by complex stress states and operational conditions. Here are several primary reasons that lead to conveyor belt tearing:

1.Tearing due to Belt Misalignment:

This is the most common cause where uneven driving forces or lateral forces cause the conveyor belt to shift more than 5% of its width. Misalignment can lead to friction and wear against rollers or frames, ultimately resulting in cracks and tearing.

2.Tearing at Belt Joints:

Quality issues at belt joints are another frequent cause of tearing. Improper material selection or inadequate vulcanization processes can lead to abrasion, peeling, debonding, or cracking at the joint, accelerating damage and tearin

3.Tearing due to Belt Slippage:

When the conveyor belt's running speed does not synchronize with the surface speed of the driving roller, slippage may occur. Increased friction between the belt and roller can elevate temperatures and worsen wear, potentially leading to belt tearing.

4.Tearing caused by Faulty Intermediate Rollers:

Problems with the supports for intermediate rollers can lead to excessive pressure on the belt, causing the edges of the rollers to cut into the belt and cause tearing.

5.Tearing from Other Mechanical Failures:

Issues such as improperly welded roller end caps or breakage of steel cords within the belt can also result in tearing. These failures expose the belt to direct contact with mechanical components, accelerating wear and eventual damage.

To repair a torn conveyor belt, advanced repair materials like repair strips can be used. HP repair strips, for instance, feature a semi-vulcanized layer that securely bonds to the belt, offering high tensile strength and enabling quick and easy repairs, thus saving time. They are suitable for repairing long-distance scratches, cuts, edge wear, localized rubber layer damage, and for seamlessly sealing belt joints.
